Part-time postdoctoral researcher in non-coding RNA genomics

We are looking for a part-time researcher to join our translational research group at the Institution for Medicine, Solna. In a well-established network of cardiovascular research, our group is focused on studying the functional roles of non-coding RNA within vascular disease. Our research projects are largely based on state-of-the-art genomic technologies, deployed on samples stemming from multiple patient cohorts, through collaborations with several leading universities in Europe and USA.

Your mission

Your responsibilities will include oversight of ongoing sequencing projects, data analysis, and integration of data into either current or new research projects. You will provide key input into new research hypotheses and study design, based on your clinical knowledge and interpretation of results from computational analyses.

The employment is part-time and thought to possibly complement current employment. The employment degree may vary between periods depending on the current workload.

Your profile

We require the following:

Strong research background using experimental, translational, and computational methods, documented by publications within the area of vascular disease.
Documented experience of in vivo animal models (murine as well as larger animals) of vulnerable atherosclerotic plaques and abdominal aortic aneurysm disease, including experience from work on transgenic animals.
Extensive experience in laboratory methods such as cell culture (including vector-based gene overexpression and vector design), live cell imaging, qPCR, western blotting, immunohistochemistry, RNA in situ hybridization.
Deep knowledge of the project-relevant diseases (in particular, abdominal aortic aneurysm and carotid artery disease).
Relevant clinical experience, preferably as a medical doctor or nurse
Proficiency in both spoken and written Swedish and English

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

Location

The position is located within the Department of Medicine, Solna. The department consists of twelve divisions and each division consists of several research groups. The position is located within the research group of Lars Maegdefessel.
