Your mission

The mission of the Research Specialist in Genetics of Autoimmune diseases is to advance our understanding of autoimmune diseases, particularly rheumatic diseases, through groundbreaking research in the field of genetics. By conducting rigorous studies within a clinical environment, collaborating with international partners, sharing knowledge through teaching, and securing funding for research, the Research Specialist will play a pivotal role in unraveling the genetic basis of autoimmunity and driving scientific advancements in this field. Through their expertise and dedication, the Research Specialist will contribute to shaping the future of autoimmune disease research and pave the way for personalized, targeted therapies and improved patient outcomes.

Eligibility requirements

PhD in area of genetics with the focus on autoimmune diseases and previous experience as PostDoc and Assisstant Professor for minimum 8 years cumulatively.

To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise as well as have documented research experience after defending their doctoral dissertation.

Assessment criteria

It is particularly meritorious that the applicant has shown

1. Well-established and documented expertise in genetics of autoimmune diseases, including rheumatic diseases:

  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in the genetics of autoimmune diseases, with a particular focus on rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, idiopathic myositis and systemic sclerosis.
  • Proven track record of successful research projects and contributions to the field of genetics of autoimmune diseases.
  • Familiarity with the latest advancements, methodologies, including bioinformatics, and technologies in genetic research related to autoimmune diseases.

2. Publication record in peer-reviewed scientific journals:

  • Demonstrated ability to publish high-quality research in the field of genetics of autoimmune diseases.
  • A minimum of 20 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, showcasing a strong publication record.
  • At least 10 publications, published after completing a Ph.D. degree without previous supervisors as co-authors.

3. Ability to plan and perform studies within a clinical environment:

  • Proficiency in designing and executing research studies related to genetics of autoimmune diseases within a clinical setting.
  • Experience in working with patient cohorts, collecting clinical data, and conducting genetic analyses using bioinformatics tools.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret and evaluate research findings, contributing to the development of new research strategies and methodological approaches.

It is meritorious that the applicant has shown

1.Experience in International Collaborations:

  • Previous involvement in collaborative research projects with international partners and institutions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with researchers from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated capability to contribute to multidisciplinary research teams and engage in international scientific networks.

2. Teaching Experience:

  • Experience and enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring students, junior researchers, or healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex scientific concepts to a diverse audience, fostering knowledge sharing and growth.

3. Ability to Attract Funds for Research:

  • A track record of successfully securing research grants or funding from national or international funding agencies.
  • Strong grant-writing skills and a strategic approach to identify and pursue funding opportunities.

Location

The position is located within the Department of Medicine, Solna. The department consists of twelve divisions and each division consists of several research groups. The position is located within Leonid Padyukov team at Lars Klareskog research group at CMM.
