Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

HTGE/KGE is seeking to recruit a research engineer to support our team for a duration of 12 months in the first instance, with a possible extension to a maximum of 24 months in total.

HTGE is a national SciLifeLab facility based at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics in Biomedicum, Solna. HTGE’s mission is to provide pooled CRISPR-Cas9 genetic screening to the Swedish research community, and to develop novel, cutting-edge research tools based on CRISPR-Cas9 technology. KGE, our second branch, is a Karolinska core facility providing services in precision genome editing in cell lines.

Your mission

The successful candidate will contribute experimental support to pooled, genome-wide CRISPR-Cas9 screens and the creation of precision edits in cell line using CRISPR-Cas9. Your main tasks will be large-scale cell culture, molecular biology work such as molecular cloning, genomic DNA preparation, NGS library preparation, protocol optimization, allele quantification by droplet digital PCR, genotyping, etc, as well as performing other general laboratory duties.

Your profile

Applicants should have postdoctoral research experience or equivalent qualifications. Strong, demonstrable laboratory skills are essential. We expect proficiency in standard mammalian cell culture, as well as excellent time- and project management skills: You are able to multi-task and manage and handle a large number of projects in parallel. Previous practical experience with CRISPR-Cas9 technology, in particular gene knock-out and creation of reporter cell lines by CRISPR-Cas is a requirement. We value a positive, proactive attitude, good communication skills and the ability to carry out assigned tasks meticulously and in a timely fashion. Candidates are required to be fluent in English.
