Division
The Department of Medicine at Huddinge consists of seven units. Advanced preclinical, clinical and epidemiological research is conducted within internal medicine and infection. The division is also involved in education, with respect to metabolic disease, biochemistry, hematology and biomedical laboratory science.

Description of the research group and project
Increased white adipose tissue mass is closely associated with cardiometabolic complications. Our research aims to understand how alterations in human white adipose tissue function is casually related to common disorders such as type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia and cardiovascular disease. Our group consists of 10 members (postdoctoral fellows, senior researchers and  technical staff) and has all the necessary infrastructure to conduct translational research including a fully equipped preclinical laboratory at NEO and a clinical research unit at the Karolinska University Hospital, Huddinge.

Duties
We are to include a postdoctoral researcher to work in the group led by Professor Mikael Rydén and Dr Niklas Mejhert. The researcher will work on a project related to immunometabolism and will work with human white adipose tissue cultures, standard molecular biology techniques and metabolomics. The project is ongoing with a number of preliminary data. The position is for 1 (one) year but maybe be extended with an additional year pending the completion of the project.

Entry requirements
A person is eligible to be appointed researcher if they have been awarded a Degree of Doctor or have achieved the corresponding scientific competence. The person appointed should have been granted a Degree of Doctor or have reached the corresponding competence no more than nine years before the last day of the application period.

It is highly desirable that the applicant has a good track record in translational research focusing on endocrinology, adipocyte biology and lipid metabolism. Clinical experience is a strong merit. The applicant should also have excellent competence in cell culture work and standard molecular biology. Good knowledge in English, written and spoken, is a requirement.

Bases of assessment
We emphasize a structured approach, accuracy and analytical skills as well as scientific expertise within the field when assessing applicants. Experience of national and international university research milieus is a merit.
