The division is also involved in education, with respect to metabolic disease, biochemistry, hematology and biomedical laboratory science.
Description of the research group and project
Increased white adipose tissue mass is closely associated with cardiometabolic complications. Our research aims to understand how alterations in human white adipose tissue function is casually related to common disorders such as type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia and cardiovascular disease. Our group consists of 10 members (postdoctoral fellows, senior researchers and technical staff) and has all the necessary infrastructure to conduct translational research including a fully equipped preclinical laboratory at NEO and a clinical research unit at the Karolinska University Hospital, Huddinge.
Duties
We are to include a postdoctoral researcher to work in the group led by Professor Mikael Rydén and Dr Niklas Mejhert. The researcher will work on a project related to immunometabolism and will work with human white adipose tissue cultures, standard molecular biology techniques and metabolomics. The project is ongoing with a number of preliminary data. The position is for 1 (one) year but maybe be extended with an additional year pending the completion of the project.
