Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

Do you want to contribute to developing and making medical research available to the world? Do you want to open up the possibility to join a future spin-off based on thorough research? Do you want to work as a research engineer, developing, validating, and deploying production-grade deep learning models to detect and diagnose breast cancer in radiological images? We have up to two positions open.

Our research is internationally recognized for the development and evaluation of AI for radiological breast cancer diagnostics with recent publications in Nature, Lancet Digital Health, Radiology, MICCAI, among others. Our group has expertise in radiology, biostatistics and machine learning. We have a strong collaboration with research groups at KTH, and internationally with a group at UC Berkeley.

A transformational project

We were recently awarded funding from the Wallenberg Launch Pad (WALP). The aim is to make the leap from research to investment-ready. We have developed and clinically tested a groundbreaking AI solution at the Karolinska University Hospital which accurately identifies women who could benefit from additional imaging after negative mammography screening. Using our AI solution to select a small proportion of women for magnetic resonance imaging diagnosed three to four times more cancer compared to selecting women using traditional methods based on mammographic density.

We now need to refine and package the models, and establish a quality monitoring system to enable future regulatory approval as a medical device. We are looking for up to two research engineers to work on further developing our models while integrating them in a product with the objective of improving the lives of women.

Your mission

You will work developing cutting edge deep learning algorithms for early detection and precision medicine based on mammography images within a small team of highly resourceful and ambitious people. Your tasks will involve preparing data, running experiments, and testing the results. Your mission will also involve making the models accessible through an API and the development of the user interface.

  • Very good communication skills in both writing and speaking, in English
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, machine learning, bioinformatics, or related.

It is a merit if:

  • You have a high professional ambition level combined with a kind and collaborative attitude.
  • Very good communication skills in both writing and speaking, in Swedish
