We are looking for an ambitious postdoctoral fellow with solid immunology and gene-editing skills to join our highly accomplished team. We offer a stimulating environment in a rapidly moving research frontier. The successful candidate will be part of a cluster of other researchers working on similar topics.
The Buggert group conducts innovative studies of cell-mediated immunity in health, cancer and viral disease. These studies are translational in nature and involve the usage of cutting-edge bulk- and single-cell technologies including high-parameter flow cytometry, gene-editing, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, TCR-seq and proteomics analysis to dissect the heterogeneity and function of memory T cell immunity. Through these platforms, we study different aspects of human memory T cell biology, with an overall aim to i) study the heterogeneity of circulating and resident memory T cells in human organ donors, ii) identify alternative functions of memory T cells in human tissues, and iii) understand how memory T cells maintain control of tumors and viral infections, such as SARS-CoV-2.
The postdoctoral candidate will work with questions centered on SARS-CoV-2-specific T cell immunity after vaccination and infection. The candidate will also work in close collaboration with different members of the group to support and educate other peers in the implementation of gene-editing technologies (e.g. CRISPR-Cas9) to mechanistically dissect different functions of human memory T cell biology in viral disease. As such, we are seeking a postdoctoral candidate with a PhD, who will work as an integrated member in our team, being involved in several ongoing projects and drive his/her own project forward.
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral candidate, in addition to holding a PhD in the field of biomedicine, must have demonstrated research expertise as well as have documented research experience in the field of human T cell immunology after defending their doctoral dissertation.
The candidate should have been trained in biotechnology and immunology during her/his PhD studies. The candidate should fully master (requirement) gene-editing technologies, such as CRISPR-Cas9, siRNA etc. In addition, a strong candidate should have a strong background in studies of human T cell biology in viral infections, including SARS-CoV-2. Experience of sequencing techniques, flow cytometry, and virus-specific T cells will also be considered as merits. Applicants should have first author publications in recognized peer-reviewed journals. Fluency in English is a requirement.
