We work in a modern laboratory at the Bioclinicum building situated within the grounds of the Karolinska University Hospital, Solna. Several group members also work at the Department of Clinical Genetics at the hospital, the largest clinical genetic department in Sweden with 90 employees working with genetic diagnosis and counseling. We also work closely with the Science for Life Laboratory in Solna, and thus have access to massively parallel DNA sequencing (MPS) with all available technologies. We are currently developing in vitro and in vivo modeling assays to evaluate genetic mutations detected in patients.
We are looking for a motivated person with a background in molecular biology and genetics and an interest to work with bioinformatics. The selected applicant will help to establish robust techniques to investigate causes behind congenital syndromes and childhood cancer predisposition. The applicant will be involved in WGS panel 30x germline analysis, WGS trio analysis, reanalysis of WGS data, transcriptome analysis and functional studies of new candidate genes and model organisms.
This project provides the opportunity to participate in a large national translational research project within Genomic Medicine Sweden/Barntumörbanken (GMS/BTB) about Childhood Cancer Predisposition that will have direct clinical impact.
A master degree within the area of biomedical research or corresponding area is required.
