Karolinska Institutet, one of KI's departments

The Strategic Research Programme in Cancer (StratCan) at Karolinska Institutet (KI) announces funding for three Senior Researcher positions within Cancer Research including basic and translational/clinical cancer research.
The positions are intended for highly talented researchers in the process of consolidating their independent research program. All researchers in receipt of these strategic funds are expected to work as research group leaders.

The applicant is to conduct internationally leading research within his/her field. The applicant should have his/her own established research line, and great potential for continuing to conduct research of very high quality.
The applicant is also to have obtained, as the principal applicant, good, long-term external financing in recent years and must have the potential for obtaining additional financing. Applicants must have graduated with a PhD or attained a corresponding level of scientific competence after 1 January 2005 and not yet have a professorship at KI. Individuals who graduated earlier than 2005 may eligible if there is particular reason for them to claim deductable  time, such as in the event of parental leave and sickness. For clinicians a full-time clinical position can be counted as deductible time (maximum 3 years). Reason, dates and extent must be clearly specified in the application and verified with the relevant documentation.

Assessment criteria
Applicants will be assessed on their scientific expertise based on two assessment criteria; the applicant’s competence and the scientific quality and novelty of the project.
