The Ivarsson Team is part of the larger Björkström group at the Center for Infectious Medicine, ANA Futura, Department of Medicine in Huddinge. The goal of the team is to perform world-leading research within human uterine immunology, with the aim of translating the new knowledge to clinical settings. By combining analysis on human uterine immune cells with clinical and diagnostic information, we aim to identify biomarkers that can help to determine a woman’s individual risk of suffering pregnancy complications.

Your mission

We are looking to recruit a talented and ambitious research assistant who will be working with PhD students, postdocs and research midwives to investigate uterine immune cells, particularly NK cells, in the context of IVF, spontaneous bleeding during early pregnancy, and in healthy uterine tissues obtained from biopsies and abortions. A full-time position is available for 1 year. You will have the opportunity to put your experimental skills to good use, while also learning new techniques. Your experimental duties will be varied including opportunities to use cutting-edge technologies for the isolation, characterisation, preservation, and culturing of primary cells. We are looking for a flexible, highly motivated and well-organized person that must have good communication skills and ability to interact well with colleagues and collaborators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collection of and subsequent isolation and storage/biobanking of cells from human uterine tissues, blood, serum and saliva.
  • Contribute to analysis of cells by FACS.

Your profile

Requirements:

  • Completed Master’s degree in Medical Science, Immunology or equivalent
  • Experience of cell isolation from human blood and tissue using lymphoprep/ficoll separation, culturing of primary cells
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skill
  • The applicant must speak and write fluent English.

Meritorious:

  • Experience in working within human immune cells including NK cells
  • DNA/RNA isolation, ELISA, qRT-PCR, cell analysis by FACS and subsequent data analysis
  • Contributions to publications
