Do you want to contribute to improving human health?

At the Department of Oncology-Pathology basic, translational and clinical research and educational activities related to cancer is carried out. Approximately 300 people from over 40 nations are currently working at the department. About 30 research groups with various cancer research profiles are involved and we have around 110 PhD students. The Department of Oncology-Pathology is responsible for undergraduate courses in Pathology, Oncology and Forensic Medicine for medical students, as well as for Tumor biology courses for biomedicine students and Pathology courses for opticians.

Your mission

We search for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher in bioinformatics to join a consortium of three research teams dedicated to understand the function of 3D epigenome folding and its deregulation in human diseases from entirely novel perspectives. The candidate is expected to drive a postdoctoral project and participate in collaborative efforts to uncover hitherto unknown therapeutic targets in complex diseases, such as cancer and diabetes. The work will be carried out in the lab of Associate professor Anita Göndör who has innovated state-of-the-art techniques enabling the analysis of 3D chromatin structures and chromatin fibre networks in single cells and small cell populations to provide unique opportunities for novel discoveries.

Model systems are exclusively based on human cells and unique, well-characterized patient material, such liquid and solid tumors as well as muscle and adipose tissue. The successful candidate will join the group consisting of 9 postdocs, 4 PhD students and four affiliated scientists.
