Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching within immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC have about 40 research groups and our key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, national and international collaborations

Division

The Marie Arsenian Henriksson Lab conducts research on the MYC family of oncoproteins and network, to uncover their contribution to tumorigenesis, differentiation, metabolism, and apoptosis in different types of cancer. We are a multicultural and dynamic group with many national and international collaborators.

Duties

A highly motivated, skilled, and creative student is needed to join our team. The successful candidate will work in a project aimed at understanding how targeting a part of the MYC oncoprotein influences tumor cell biology, particularly in the context of neuroblastoma.

Key duties will include maintaining and culturing various cell lines, performing fluorescence microscopy to analyze cellular processes, and conducting experiments to assess the effects of different small molecule treatment on cell differentiation, proliferation, metabolism and apoptosis. The student will be expected to design and execute experiments, collect and analyze data, and contribute to the interpretation of results. Experience in cell culture and fluorescence microscopy techniques is required, as these are integral to the project.

The student will work closely with the research team, contributing to a collaborative and dynamic research environment. Additionally, they will have opportunities to learn advanced laboratory techniques and gain hands-on experience in cancer biology research. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge project with the potential to impact neuroblastoma treatment strategies.
