The Department of Global Public Health is a multidisciplinary department with the aim to advance knowledge about challenges and opportunities for public health in a local, national, and global setting. Research at the department is focused on how different societal and individual factors affect population health, and to develop and evaluate structural and individual-oriented interventions. Many researchers at the department are scientific advisors to authorities and other decision makers at regional, national, and international levels. The department has 12 research groups, about 110 PhD students and about 140 employees.

The position is placed in the PRIME health research group (Prevention, Intervention and Mechanisms in Public Health). In our research group, you get a unique opportunity to collaborate closely with leading researchers in an interdisciplinary field that explores climate extremes and their impact on the population's health. We place special focus on vulnerability factors, adaptability and future scenarios. Your mission

As part of our team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting research initiatives aimed at understanding and addressing the intersections of climate and health. Your responsibilities will include collecting, managing, and analyzing large datasets on health outcomes and climatic exposures. You will contribute to the development of statistical models and programming solutions, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and assist in preparing scientific manuscripts and grant applications. By upholding high standards of efficiency and professionalism, your work will directly contribute to impactful outcomes in the field of climate and health research.

This is a temporary position for 6 months, full-time. 

Your profile

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual with a master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, or a related discipline with specific training in statistical modelling and multivariate analysis. You should have documented experience in analysing large datasets on health outcomes and/or climatic exposures and working in academic setting. Advanced programming skills in R, Python, STATA and SAS (or other relevant languages) are mandatory.

Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. As a person, you are curious, highly motivated, and persistent. You demonstrate independence and strong problem-solving skills. You possess excellent communication skills in both oral and written English. Your expertise and enthusiasm will play a critical role in driving forward research that supports the sustainability and resilience of healthcare systems in a changing climate.
