Our goal is to identify biomarkers and drug targets for early prediction and prevention of cancer. We use network tools to construct high-resolution models of malignant transformation based on multiomics data down to the spatial single-cell level and routine clinical data from individual patients. We call such models digital twins, which we analyze to find biomarkers and data process with thousands of medications to find the optimal treatment for the individual patient (see our website for details and publications: sdtc.se).
As a postdoctoral fellow, your role is to contribute to the construction and analysis of digital twins, in close collaboration with other bioinformatics, network, AI, experimental and clinical researchers at Karolinska Institutet and collaborators at leading universities in the USA, UK and China, as well as industrial partners. This means that you can continuously develop your current bioinformatics skills and thereby have several different career paths after your post doc. The work environment is friendly, non-hierarchical and English-speaking. Work-life balance is a priority, including 5 weeks of vacation/year. Career planning, grant application training and leadership are offered. This has led to successful academic and industrial careers for several former PhD students and post docs.
