In our research group you will work with scientists conducting world-leading research on the occurrence and progression of inflammatory diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). We work with integrating large-scale clinical information with molecular genetics, environmental and lifestyle data, as well as registry data. This work relies on intensive local, national and international collaborations. We offer a creative and inspiring environment with wide-ranging expertise in genetics and epidemiology and close connections to the clinics. Physically we are located at centrum for Molecular Medicine a research environment with groups studying different common diseases using a wide array of methods and there is an ample opportunity to interact with researchers.
Your mission is to work with genome-wide genetic data (i.e., GWAS) at both individual and summary levels. You will employ an integrative genomic approach, utilizing methods such as Mendelian randomization, cross-trait meta-analysis, functional annotation, enrichment analysis, and more. Your primary focus will be investigating genetic associations, identifying novel loci, and unravelling pleiotropic mechanisms related to MS or RA. Additionally, you will have the exciting opportunity to incorporate other omics data, such as proteomics, into your research to identify the biomarkers in relation to MS development, severity and progression.
We are looking for someone who holds a master's degree and has advanced knowledge and experience in epidemiology, genetic epidemiology, with documented expertise in handling genomic data. Previous publications in the field are a merit but not a requirement. You should have extensive and relevant knowledge and skills in statistical genetics, including GWAS, cross-trait meta-analysis, Mendelian randomization, and related methodologies. Advanced programming skills in languages such as R, Stata, or Python and experience in Linux-based environments and knowledge of cloud computing are also required. You should have exceptional English language skills, both oral and written.
