The Strategic Research Programme in Cancer at KI, Cancer Research KI (https://ki.se/en/cancerresearchki/cancer-research-ki ), is an umbrella organisation with the aim to represent and facilitate the cancer research field at KI, which is a broad and multidisciplinary research area with research groups at all KI institutions.

Cancer Research KI is an initiative funded by the Swedish Government to further strengthen and expand the already strong cancer research at Karolinska Institutet. Cancer Research KI works to increase contacts between cancer researchers from different disciplines, from basic tumor biology to clinical oncology as well as to increase cooperation with external actors, for example in industry.

Your mission

You should work to promote and facilitate the cooperation between the included research groups. In addition, you should coordinate and be responsible for information activities. Promotion and coordination of external contacts with, for example, hospitals, industry and international research centers, are also included. Budget - and coordination of scientific arrangements (conferences, summer schools, theme days, etc.) - form part of the tasks. You will administers the organisation’s activities including coordinating work-group activities, EU projects, board meetings and is responsible for administering the call process for research grants (call for proposals, advertising and compilation of applications received).

Your profile

You must have a PhD in the biomedical field and good knowledge of the cancer research area. You should have a long work experience from academia and/or industry with project coordination and budget responsibility, and preferably also communication and network building. You should have good language skills in English and Swedish, both in speech and writing as well as having good experience of giving oral presentations in both languages.

You should be service-oriented, structured, independent, flexible and stress-resistant, and have the ability to successfully work with several different tasks simultaneously. In addition, collaboration and prioritization skills are required. You should also be a good communicator.
