Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Rydén and Mejhert lab aims to understand how white adipocytes are formed and how this process is related to cardiometabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Our group consists of 15-20 members (senior researchers, postdoctoral fellows, PhD/master students, and technical staff) and has all the necessary infrastructure to conduct translational research including a fully equipped preclinical laboratory at NEO and a clinical research unit at the Karolinska University Hospital, Huddinge.

Your mission

We are recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to work independently on a project in our creative environment. Your project will aim to understand how human white adipocytes are formed. More specifically, we have recently shown that human white adipose tissue contains three distinct adipocyte subtypes. In this project, we aim to understand from which progenitor cells they are formed. To achieve this, we will employ several state-of-the-art approaches including lineage tracing in transplantation models and advanced cell biology work based on human cells.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral fellow a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

Experience in common cell and molecular biology approaches (such as cloning and cell culture) and bioinformatic knowledge (with proficiency in R, Python or similar) are required to complete this project. It is a clear strength if the applicant has experience in gene editing with Cas9-mediated engineering. It is expected that the candidate should be able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently. Good knowledge in English, written and spoken, is a requirement.
