Karolinska Institutet, Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology

Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching within immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC have about 40 research groups and our key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, national and international collaborations.

We are currently looking for an Amanuens to work in Erik Benson’s research group at the Scilifelab campus in Solna. The group’s focus is to utilize DNA nanotechnology for developing libraries of structures with significant diversity. Subsequently, we conduct selection experiments and sequencing to identify the structure with the best properties. Our goal is to develop alternative antibodies that can be produced rapidly and are sequenced. As a member of the group, you will be part of Scilifelab and the Microbiology-Bacteriology unit at Karolinska Institutet.

Your mission

Antibodies are essential for modern research, diagnostics, and therapy, but they face challenges related to reproducibility and development time when dealing with new pathogens. We have developed a system of DNA nanostructures that can serve as an alternative. These structures contain a synthetic genome that can be sequenced using nanopore sequencing. Now we are seeking an Amanuens who can work to develop Python software to process nanopore data and identify DNA fragments in the nanopore sequencing reads.

Your profile
