The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics conducts research in epidemiology and biostatistics across a broad range of areas within biomedical science. The department is among the largest of its type in Europe and has especially strong research profiles in psychiatric, cancer, reproductive, pediatric, pharmaco, genetic, and geriatric epidemiology, eating disorders, precision medicine, and biostatistics.

Part of the success of our department is due to our collaborative spirit where one factor is that researchers at the Department share and co-finance common resources (e.g., IT and an applied biostatistics group). Your mission

We are looking for an outstanding and motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our research team. The successful applicant will work on projects related to pharmacological treatment in forensic psychiatry. The project will leverage advanced epidemiologic designs and high-quality Swedish registry data. The results are expected to provide critical information for health care providers about the risks and benefits associated with different pharmacological treatment, in order to improve treatment outcomes of patients in forensic psychiatric care.

The postdoctoral researcher will work with an interdisciplinary research team. The main tasks include literature review, data analysis, and results dissemination.

This is a temporary position for 2 years.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

The successful applicant is expected to have:

  • Experience in conducting epidemiology studies in forensic psychiatry.
  • Knowledge of the Swedish National Forensic Psychiatric Register (RättspsyK).
  • Ability in formulating research questions based on existing evidence in the field.
  • Experience and interest in working in an international research group. Excellence in written and verbal communication (in English)
  • Ability to collaborate with researchers within and beyond the group.
  • Medical degree and clinical experience in forensic psychiatry are merits.
