The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching within immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC have about 40 research groups and our key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, national and international collaborations.
Our laboratory is located at the Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab, http://www.scilifelab.se/) in the Karolinska Institute campus. SciLifeLab is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation and core facilities.
A post-doctoral position is available under the supervision of Dr. Ilaria Piazza to work in close collaboration with the laboratory of Dr. Vicent Pelechano. The Piazza laboratory (http://thewittysquare.eu) uses mass spectrometry-based approaches to study protein interactions in cell and tissues with proteomics. The Piazza laboratory is based both at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm (SciLifeLab) and at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in Berlin. The successful candidate will work on a collaborative project with the laboratory of Dr. Vicent Pelechano (http://pelechanolab.com/). The Pelechano laboratory integrates experimental and computational approaches to tackle fundamental biological questions with medical relevance using innovative genome-wide techniques. You will have the opportunity to work in a highly interdisciplinary and international environment and combine the development of state-of-the art genomic and proteomic approaches with the molecular dissection of fundamental biological problems.
Are you interested in Protein-RNA interactions and their role in disease? Would you like to contribute to the development of cutting-edge proteomic and genomic technologies? Come and join us at SciLifeLab!
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow with a passion for developing experimental methods to join our team. In this role, you will be involved in a groundbreaking project aimed at advancing the study of protein-RNA interactions through the integration of proteomics and genomics, making use of the expertise of the Piazza and Pelechano laboratories. With proof-of-concept already established, you will work to refine and optimize the method to achieve broad applicability and high reproducibility. You will have the opportunity to apply this novel approach to explore pressing biomedical questions, such as elucidating the key features of proteins that govern RNA binding specificity and leveraging this knowledge to advance treatments for human tumors and immunotherapies.
You will work on an exciting multidisciplinary project integrating multiomics approaches that aims to understand the crosstalk between RNA and in bulk and at single cell level. You will have access to state-of-the-art instrumentation including mass spectrometers for single cell proteomics analysis and be involved in international cross-disciplinary collaborations.
The candidate is expected to contribute his/her own ideas and take a strong lead in the experimental design and data interpretation. The candidate will perform original research in genomics and/or proteomics, and acquire the required experimental and computational skills necessary for the completion of the project. The candidate will be responsible for the experimental design, implementing analytical pipelines and integrate different kinds of genomic data to answer biologically relevant questions.
The candidate is expected to communicate the scientific results by writing up scientific papers and attending scientific meetings. The ideal candidate is also expected to participate in the general duties of the team and to effectively communicate with scientists of very diverse backgrounds in a highly interdisciplinary and international environment.
This position is based in Stockholm (Sweden), but you will have the opportunity to work in close collaboration with the Piazza laboratory located at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association (MDC) in Berlin (Germany). Working language is English.
If you are a dedicated researcher with a desire to drive innovation in the field, we encourage you to apply for this exciting position.
