The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics conducts research in epidemiology and biostatistics across a broad range of areas within biomedical science. The department is among the largest of its type in Europe and has especially strong research profiles in psychiatric, cancer, reproductive, pediatric, pharmaco, genetic, geriatric and gastrointestinal epidemiology, and biostatistics.

We are looking for a research assistant who will contribute to the ESPRESSO project (a research unit focusing on gastrointestinal epidemiology https://ki.se/en/meb/espresso)  led by Prof Jonas F Ludvigsson (https://staff.ki.se/people/jonas-ludvigsson). The main goal of research activities in his team is to improve our understanding of gastrointestinal and liver disease.

Your mission

There are two projects: 1. examining the relationship between psychiatric drugs and liver disease; 2. doing research about the celiac disease. We will use unique research materials, including a histological cohort (i.e., ESPRESSO) and national healthcare registers in Sweden, and will collaborate with other research groups in and outside KI. As a research assistant, you are expected to join or even lead individual studies, including project coordination, study design, data analysis, manuscript writing, and result interpretation.

Your profile

We are looking for a candidate with demonstrated multidisciplinary training, e.g., clinical medicine, pharmacology, public health, epidemiology and biostatistics background, and ideally previous experience in epidemiological research. Demonstrable advanced skills and expertise in R programming, STATA, or similar languages and ability to collaborate well within multi-disciplinary teams and independently are essential. The candidate needs good skills in English, both written and spoken. As a person, you are social and able to interact and contribute within a team.
