This position is an opportunity to conduct research in the research group for Global Sexual Health, at the Department of Global Public Health, Karolinska Institutet

The Department of Global Public Health is an interdisciplinary institution that aims to advance knowledge on how to improve population health at local, national and global level. Research at the department aims to identify the determinants of health, develop and evaluate individual and structural interventions, and provide evidence for guidelines and policy documents. Many of the department's researchers are scientific advisors to authorities and other decision-makers at regional, national and international level. The department has 10 research groups, about 100 research students and about 140 employees.

Your mission

The work will mostly be based at the Department of Global Public Health at Karolinska Institutet in Solna. The applicant is expected to independently conduct own research but also to assist in existing research projects in global health in low- and middle-income countries. Responsibilities include writing of grant applications, project coordination, project reporting, quantitative data analysis, scientific writing and frequent communication in speech and writing with both national and international partners. Supervision of students at Master and PhD level will also be expected, as well as teaching in global health and sexual and reproductive health related topics. The postdoc will also be an important part of the research group and is expected to actively participate in the work and development of the group. Shorter or longer travel outside of Sweden will be necessary. 

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

Mandatory requirements include a PhD degree in epidemiology, public health, global health, demography or corresponding academic qualifications. And also very good English and Swedish language skills in speaking and writing.
Skills in quantitative data analysis such as survival analysis, mediation analysis, social network analysis, biostatistics, epidemiology are strongly encouraged and also being able to independently perform multivariate data analyses.
Experience of working with survey data to analyze norms and values is merit. 

Experience of research in global health and sexual and reproductive health and HIV is a desired requirement as well as previous work in low-income countries. Experience in writing publications, grant applications and/or project coordination preferably at international level is a desired requirement.
