We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled scientist who would like to contribute to our research within head and neck cancer, asthma, airway allergy at ENT division.

Description of the subject area

Our research focuses on immunology (mainly T and B cells, dendritic cells, neutrophils) and inflammation within head and neck cancer and asthma as well as immunotherapy for airway allergies. Research is closely connected to ENT clinic and is run by Prof. Lars Olof Cardell.

Your mission

Research specialist is expected to be responsible for group’s daily activities, to develop and run new and ongoing projects and methods within group’s research areas. You will be working in a team and performing experimental work within a research laboratory environment. Development of methods and analyses for collected samples, literature review, statistical analysis, writing scientific papers and reports, giving scientific presentations, and performing administrative duties are part of the job.

Flow cytometry as well as various cell and molecular biology methods and techniques are used to analyze patient material in our studies. Patient recruitment, processing patient samples (blood or tissues), performing analyses, such as FACS, ELISA or PCR, are part of the job in different projects. Moreover, we work in tight collaboration with clinical colleagues at NKS and in an interdisciplinary way, which demands the applicant to be independent, creative, have a positive attitude and be collaborative.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise as well as have documented research experience after defending their doctoral dissertation.

Assessment criteria

It is particularly meritorious that the applicant has shown

  • Well documented experience in various molecular biology methods and techniques
  • Documented experience with cells and in vitro experiments
  • Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) skills
  • Excellent spoken and written English 

It is meritorious that the applicant has shown

  • Previous experience with flow cytometry from panel design to data analysis as well as other immunological assays (e.g. ELISA)
  • Good spoken and written Swedish is required for communication with Swedish clinical colleagues (doctors and nurses) or patients
  • Experience of supervision
  • Documented experience in grant writing and application

The applicant must have good communication and organizational skills, be able to work both independently and in a team, and be meticulous and responsible.
