Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching within immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC have about 40 research groups and our key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, national and international collaborations.

Marie Arsenian-Henriksson's group

Our group conducts research on the MYC family of oncoproteins and network, to uncover their contribution to tumorigenesis, differentiation, metabolism, and apoptosis in different types of cancer. We are a multicultural and dynamic group with many national and international collaborators.

Your mission

A highly motivated, skilled, and creative researcher is needed to join our team. The successful candidate will work within projects that aim to 1) investigate the impact of MYC in metabolic reprogramming to find novel metabolic proteins that could be used as a potential therapeutic target in clear cell renal cell carcinoma and 2) to identify alternative strategies involving MYC to induce differentiation of the most aggressive types of the childhood tumor neuroblastoma. The postdoctoral researcher is expected to have a leading role in experimental design, experimental performance, data analysis and representation, and presentation/publication of the results. The successful candidate should have experience in writing grant application and in supervising Bachelor and Master students.

Your profile

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven person interested in our area of research and ready to explore new paths for cancer therapeutics. The candidate should have a high degree of independence but with collaborative mindset, work productively in a team, and contribute to a good social and work environment in the laboratory. The applicant should hold a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Science and have a solid background in cancer biology. Previous experience in research on tumor metabolism, differentiation and/or target identification is a prerequisite. Knowledge and experience in MYC, neuroblastoma or clear cell renal cell carcinoma fields is an advantage.

The candidate must be well familiar with standard molecular and cell biology techniques including:

  • Advanced cell culture, drug testing and immunofluoresnce
  • Molecular biology techniques: PCR and Western blot Imaging techniques and data analysis
  • Metabolic profiling assays
  • Sample preparation for Lipidomics, Proteomics and RNAseq
  • Lentivirus transduction
  • In vivo studies in mice and immunohistochemistry of tumor samples
  • Making figure using Biorender

Fluency in English is a requirement.

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required.
