The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics conducts research in epidemiology and biostatistics across a broad range of areas within biomedical science. The department is among the largest of its type in Europe and has especially strong research profiles in psychiatric, cancer, reproductive, pediatric, pharmaco, genetic, and geriatric epidemiology, eating disorders, precision medicine, and biostatistics.
Part of the success of our department is due to our collaborative spirit where one factor is that researchers at the Department share and co-finance common resources (e.g., IT and an applied biostatistics group). Join our highly qualified team of biostatisticians in the Applied Biostatistics group (ABS) of the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics! In our team, you will take responsibility for scientific collaborations as an applied statistician in high-profile epidemiological research projects, as well as contributing to strategic departmental tasks in biostatistics and bioinformatics. The position offers large opportunities for professional development. Our team is embedded in the larger MEB Biostatistics group with nearly 40 staff including 4 professors of biostatistics.
As a member of the ABS, you will work in research projects in a wide range of medical applications. Your main tasks are:
We expect you to have a degree in statistics, mathematical statistics or a related field. We also expect you to have experience from planning and analyzing clinical trials, including knowledge of RCT good practice and standards, epidemiological research, and teaching. As working with people in other professions is a large part of this job, you need to be structured and self-reliant, and able to work on multiple projects in parallel. Excellent communication skills and good command of spoken and written English are important. We expect you to be motivated to expand your knowledge in biostatistics, epidemiology and medicine, as required. We further expect you to have an interest in the strategic development of our group and applied biostatistics.
We consider experience in the following areas to be additional qualifications for this position: collaborative research; statistical consulting; the statistical software Stata; secure data management, research documentation and project organization.
