Projects: POTION and EXPERIENCE
This opening is for one or two research assistant positions working with the EU projects active at NASP and supporting the development of new international grant applications. Currently, active projects are “Promoting social interaction through emotional body odours” (POTION) and “The ‘Extended-Personal Reality’: augmented recording and transmission of virtual senses through artificial-IntelligENCE" (EXPERIENCE). Both projects have received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. POTION proposes a novel technological paradigm to delve deeper into understanding meaningful social interaction, combining new knowledge about the chemical composition of human social chemosignals together with a novel olfactory-based technology designed to drive social behaviour. Our role is to analyze the data collected during the clinical trials, with the aim of evaluating the diagnostic and therapeutic use of human chemosignals in different groups of patients. EXPERIENCE’s aim is to create a new Extended-Personal Reality, allowing users to create their own virtual reality (VR) environments, embedded with virtual simulations that elicit unique psychological, cognitive, neurophysiological and behavioural responses. Our role is to explore and evaluate the possibility of using Extended Personal Reality as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool for mental disorders.
Duties, responsibilities
The tasks of the research assistant include collaborating in the scientific work related to active EU projects and new grant applications. These include: preparing technical materials, documentation of actual activities, and participation in the technical project meetings. Moreover, responsibilities include writing reports on the progress of the projects to the research Consortium, maintaining good communication with partners, assisting in the project and financial management and additional administrative tasks. The research assistant will also be asked to collaborate on similar tasks in other projects currently ongoing at NASP (mainly related to suicide prevention), including collaborating with other members of the research team in conducing literature reviews, manuscript reviews as well as contributing methodological and scientific input to manuscript writing. Contribution to oral and written forms of scientific dissemination is also expected - e.g., at Consortium meetings and international conferences. The research assistant will be part of a dynamic international research team. Thus, being driven, self-motivated, taking the initiative, being able to think critically, having good communication and problem-solving skills and having excellent organizational skills are desirable.
