The research at the Unit of Epidemiology, IMM, KI, is focused on advancing knowledge about disease etiology and prognosis with an emphasis on environmental and lifestyle factors, and on methodological development. The research is based on large register-based cohorts, as well as cohorts and case-control studies with extensive information from questionnaires and biological samples. The Unit currently comprises 7 senior researchers and 8 post docs, as well as 6 PhD students and a statistician. We are now looking for one additional postdoctoral researcher.
The successful candidate is expected to conduct epidemiologic research in cancer epidemiology, focused primarily on childhood cancer, but also other areas within cancer epidemiology. We have ongoing projects, but there is also room for own research ideas, where the richness of data available offer immense possibilities. The postdoc is also expected to supervise PhD students, and to participate as teacher in epidemiology both at the Master level and at the Doctoral program in Epidemiology. The position is for 2 years with the possibility of extension.
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
We stress scientific expertise, experience with epidemiological methods and research as well as competence within cancer epidemiology when assessing applicants. We see that the candidate has the following qualifications:
Other meritorious competences are experience in cancer epidemiology and register based epidemiological research and experience with the statistical software SAS, Stata and/or R, and international collaborations. The applicant will need to both feel comfortable with working in teams and demonstrate good interpersonal skills and be independent enough to formulate new hypotheses and critically examine the results.
