We are currently looking for up to two postdoctoral researchers who will be working on several research projects in a research group lead by Professor Mats J. Olsson in close collaboration with Research specialist Arnaud Tognetti with a focus on the behavioral defense against disease. Behavior is arguably a cost-effective and first-line defense against disease. Using primarily experimental design (IRL and web-based), we investigate the physiological (including fMRI and immune response markers), perceptual, motivational and emotional processes that promote adaptive behavior in relation to sick kin and strangers.
The position entails participation in, planning, and conducting research studies that aim to identify these processes and to understand their role in health and in disease. The position provides an excellent opportunity for transition to career independence and an engaging and international research environment where you will be able to contribute to internationally leading research.
The post-doctoral associate will be based at the Division of Psychology, Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Karolinska Institutet. The postdoctoral researcher will mainly work with data collection, statistical analysis, manuscript writing, and grant applications. The appointment is for one-year that is potentially renewable. Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
Applicants must have a PhD in psychology, cognitive science/ neuroscience, human behavioral ecology, biomedicine, or an allied discipline. The successful candidate must have experience data management and analysis using, e.g., R. Excellent English skills in speaking and writing is a requirement and Swedish skills are meritorious. For one of the positions, it could also be meritorious with working knowledge in French since we plan extensive collaboration with France. The work involves close collaboration with others and therefore demands collaborative skills.
