Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

You will be joining the Unit of Integrative Epidemiology at the Institute of Environmental Medicine. Our research aims at understanding the risk factors and prognostic indicators for different chronic diseases including cancer, psychiatric disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases. We use different research tools in addressing these research questions, including population and health registers, large scale cohort and case-control studies, as well as different biobanks. We integrate closely epidemiology with other pre-clinical and clinical research. We are now looking for 1-2 postdoctoral researchers to join us.

Your mission

The work will focus on psychiatric epidemiology or neuroepidemiology, with an emphasis on investigating the risk and prognostic factors of psychiatric disorder and neurodegenerative disease, using large-scale register-based studies as well as cohort and biobank data. We will work closely with researchers from other countries (Iceland, France, Australia, and other Nordic countries) in the work.

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

You should have demonstrated experience in epidemiologic research, including administrative healthcare database, questionnaire data, and data analytical competence. Previous experience with research on psychiatric disorder or neurodegenerative disease will be a plus. The position requires advanced level knowledge of programming in SAS, Stata and/or R. Experience from working with Swedish or other health registers is also meritorious. You should have experience in working independently on projects and driving them forward, with senior supervision.
