The Department of Biosciences and Nutrition performs research and education in several areas of medical science including bioorganic chemistry, molecular endocrinology, cancer biology, functional genomics, systems biology, epigenetics, structural biochemistry, cellular virology, and nutrition. It offers an excellent international research and working environment, including around 250 scientists, students, administrative and technical personnel. Your mission
The successful candidate will work within an international group that has active collaboration with researchers in different parts of the world. The main tasks will be to isolate intact RNA from a large collection of medulloblastoma samples provided via national and international biobanks. Subsequently, the circular RNA fraction will be enriched and subjected to RNA sequencing. Using bioinformatic tools, sequence reads that correspond to circular RNA molecules will be selected. Once a robust list of circular RNAs deregulated in medulloblastoma versus normal cerebellum is identified, a functional analysis for their role in tumor growth through in vitro and in vivo approaches will be implemented.
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
Experience in bioinformatic detection of circular RNA expression is required as well as knowledge of the role of Hedgehog signaling for medulloblastoma development.
