The Department of Clinical Neuroscience conducts research and education in the field of neuroscience from the molecular level to the society level. The successful candidate will work in Assoc. Prof. Maja Jagodic’s group, physically located at the Center for Molecular Medicine. The group studies epigenetic mechanisms underlying neuroinflammation and neuronal loss in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) using both largescale omics approaches and molecular in vivo and in vitro functional experiments.
MS is an immune-mediated disease triggered by complex interactions between genetic and environmental factors resulting in a highly heterogeneous disease with respect to its clinical presentation and treatment response. We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher who will develop and implement bioinformatic pipelines to analyze epigenetic screens and to stratify patients based on omics data. The work will include design of analysis, data processing, quality control, statistical analysis, data interpretation and presentation of findings in the form of scientific publications, grant applications and at meetings and conferences. The candidate is expected to interact with many collaborators at KI and externally and to contribute to the efficient functioning of the unit.
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher who shares our passion for translational epigenetics, is ready to join our very collaborative team, and is highly motivated to perform computational work. The position is funded through the European Research Council (ERC-CoG) grant - Epi4MS.
