The Department of Medicne, Solna (MedS), has well established educational- and research profiles in biomedicine and clinical medicine at a high international level. The course in clinical medicine within the medical program is central for the students to acquire knowledge on how to examine and treat common medical diseases in internal medicine including skin and infectious diseases and geriatric diseases. The Department of Medicine, Solna, is responsible for the course, which mainly takes place at Karolinska University Hospital in Solna. The Division of Clinical Medicine at MedS is responsible for ensuring high quality of the clinical placements (VFU) and to fulfill required learning outcomes, parts of the teaching are conducted at Capio St. Göran Hospital. This also leads to increased synergies and improved conditions for clinical research.

Your mission

The focus for the employment is on education and research. The person in mind is expected, in collaboration with clinical care units, to be responsible for clinical placements of high quality within the medical patient flow at CStG. Further contribute to strengthening undergraduate education, postgraduate education and research in clinical medicine.

The position as Senior Lecturer in clinical medicine will be combined with a position as specialized trained physician/consultant in internal medicine, emergency medicine, cardiology, neurology or infection at CStG. The level of the clinical position (senior consultant, consultant, specialized physician) will be decided after expert assessment as below. The employment rate is divided into 60% at MedS and 40% at CStG.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for employment as a Senior Lecturer, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the person must have demonstrated research and teaching expertise, as well as management, development, collaborative skills and clinical expertise. The position will be combined with a position as a specialist trained physician within the medical patient flow at CStG and therefore the candidate must also have an MD with specialist competence in internal medicine, emergency medicine, cardiology, neurology or infection, as well as fulfill the National Board of Health and Welfare's requirements for practicing medicine in Sweden.

The clinical position as a specialist trained physician/consultant combined with the educational commitment requires particularly good knowledge of the Swedish language.

The applicant shall also have completed courses of 10 weeks of higher education training in teaching (or have equivalent competence) in accordance with the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions recommendations for qualification as a higher education teacher.

Bases of assessment

The Senior Lectureship has a focus on education and research. The assessment will weight qualifications as follows: research expertise (2), educational expertise (3), leadership, development and collaboration expertise (2), and clinical expertise (2).

Experience in coordinating and leading education and of developing pedagogical projects is an advantage.

After an overall assessment of the expertise and merits of the candidates, Karolinska Institutet and Capio St Görans Hospital will in collaboration judge which of the candidates that have the best potential to contribute to a positive development of the activities.
