The Department of Cell and Molecular Biology (CMB) is a department with a strong focus on basic science. CMB conducts research and education in cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, stem cell biology, cancer and infection biology.

Division
Andras Simon’s group studies mechanisms of regeneration in newts, which are aquatic salamanders. During the past years the group has developed methods that enable us to characterize how these animals replace damaged or degenerating tissues with new ones. The group places our findings in an evolutionary perspective and perform comparative studies with mammals. Please find more information on their web site http://www.simonlab.se

Duties
The work consists of assisting in the generation and maintenance of transgenic amphibian lines and other aquatic animals. The duties include for example amphibian husbandry, breeding, cleaning of aquaria and dishwashing. English is the primary language for documentation and contact with researchers.

The extent of the employment consits of 50% with a possibility to be extended to 100% in the future.

Entry requirements
We are looking for someone who has work experience with regards to technical work in a laboratory and/or with laboratory animals, for example, work as an animal technician. Previous experience of working with aquatic animals is an advantage. Good knowledge of English is a requirement since we have many foreign researchers.

The candidate’s personal skills will be highly valued.
