Karolinska Institutet, Department of Public Health Sciences

At the Department of Public Health Sciences we conduct research, teaching and applied work based on public health science and epidemiology. The research is aimed at analysing health determinants on the population level, and developing and evaluating preventative structural and individualised measures, including legislation and guidelines. The field also includes health economics, health systems research and implementation research. Our activities have a strongly international flavour, and the Department's researchers are scientific advisers to authorities and other decision-makers on the regional, national and international level. The Department is divided into research groups operating within the fields of global health, public health epidemiology and social medicine with a total of 150 employees. In addition, we have around 80 research students. This position is located in the research group Community Nutrition and Physical Activity including 9 persons currently.

Our research group works with several projects in the field of public health nutrition and sustainability. As a research officer, you will participate in two projects, and will be developing models to calculate the impacts of sustainable diets on public health. You will model dietary changes, carry out health impact assessments, and prepare tables, figures and draft scientific papers. You will communicate methods and findings with colleagues in an inter-disciplinary team. Supervision of bachelor and master level students may also be involved. The work will be carried out in collaboration with external partners such as the Swedish National Food Agency, the Royal Institute of Technology and researchers abroad.
