Intervention processes and outcomes (PROCOME) research group focuses on effects and implementation of different kinds of programs and initiatives aiming to improve services (e.g. evidence based methods) in different type of organizations, with specific focus on health and social care.

Duties
We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher for a 2-year full time employment focusing on the governance of de-implementation of low-value practices in health care.

The work will take place within the boundaries of a FORTE funded research project “To do or not to do – balancing governance and professional autonomy to abandon ineffective healthcare practices”. A large number of interventions used in health care lack evidence of effectiveness and may be unnecessary or even cause harm and should therefore be de-implemented. Lists of these types of ineffective, i.e. low-value, practices have become common, but these lists have little chance of leading to improvements without sufficient knowledge regarding how de-implementation can be governed and carried out. However, decisions regarding de-implementation are not only a matter of scientific evidence; the puzzle is far more complex with political, economic and relational interests playing a role. This project aims to explore governance of de-implementation of low-value practices in the health care system from political, administrative and organizational perspectives.

As a post-doc, you will be involved in all parts of the project. The work tasks include developing the study design and methodology together with the research team, writing an ethical application, collecting data (mainly through individual and group interviews with health care operative and administrative management as well as politicians, observations and collection of documentation) and running qualitative data analysis. Furthermore, the work tasks also include writing scientific articles as well as presenting findings at scientific conferences, and may also include helping organizations to interpret and implement the results. Lastly, the work tasks also include administrative tasks related to the research process, including establish routines related to research documentation.
