The Department of Neurobiology Care Sciences and Society
The Department of Neurobiology Care Sciences and Society (NVS) comprises 8 divisions with a total of approximately 500 employees. The Department of NVS is located at KI Campus Flemingsberg. The Department is responsible for education at basic and advanced levels, doctoral education as well as clinical and experimental research within the different areas represented by the divisions.

Division
The Division of Physiotherapy at NVS conducts research, doctoral education and education at basic and advanced levels in physiotherapy. Approximately 40 teachers/researchers and administrators are employed, and some 20 doctoral students registered. The division is located primarily at KI Campus Flemingsberg. The division is in an expansive phase regarding both education and research. 

Duties
The Department of Neurobiology Care Sciences and Society (NVS) is announcing a position as professor in physiotherapy with focus on  education and research, in particular physical activity as disease prevention and treatment with a deep commitment to lead, develop and coordinate education, research, and doctoral education. The candidate will be expected to develop the subject of physiotherapy as well as to supervise students, PhD candidates and post-docs in physiotherapy. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for the important task to increase the level of research-based education. Responsibilities include teaching at basic, advanced and doctoral levels. The tasks will be designed and adapted based on the candidate's skills and interests and may change over time.

The appointment as a professor may, by special agreement, be combined with a position with clinical part-time employment at SLL, Stockholm County Council.

Eligibility requirements
To be eligible for employment as Professor the applicant must have demonstrated both research and educational expertise, as well as management, development and collaborative skills (see the instructions regarding the Appointment Procedure for Teachers at Karolinska Institutet). The applicant shall also have completed courses of 10 weeks (or equivalent competence) of higher education training in teaching in accordance with Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions recommendations for qualification as a higher education teacher or have otherwise obtained equivalent knowledge. For this position, documented ability to coordinate and lead is a requirement. 

The Division of Physiotherapy is looking for a person with documented proficiency in teaching and development of teaching at university level, as well as proven academic leadership. Extensive experience in teaching at basic- advanced and research education levels is required and research in pedagogics is a merit.

The candidate should also possess a solid research position in the field of physiotherapy within physical activity in disease prevention and treatment. A strong publication record in international scientific journals as well as documented experience in physical activity in health promotion and treatment is a requirement. The candidate should have documented experience in national and international collaboration and in academic leadership. Formal professional education as a physiotherapist or registered physiotherapist is required.

Bases of assessment 
The Professorship has a focus on education and research. The assessment will weight qualifications as follows: educational expertise (3), research expertise (2), leadership, development and collaboration expertise (2), clinical experience (1).

After an overall assessment of the expertise and merits of the candidates, KI will judge which of the candidates that have the best potential to contribute to a positive development of the activities at KI.
