Karolinska Institutet,

The Department of Dental Medicine at Campus Flemingsberg focuses on the education of dentists and
dental hygienists. In addition, we perform research, dental specialization training and provide patient
care by specialist dentists.
Karolinska Institutet and the rest of Scandinavia have been world leaders in dentistry for decades.

Location
Margaret Sällberg Chen’s research group - Unit for Oral Diagnostics and Surgery

Duties
This postdoctoral research position is immediately available in the research group of Dr. Margaret Sällberg Chen. The position is for a scientist with background in disease conditions associated with dysfunctionality in host immunity and/or oral-gut microbiota. The candidate will be part of a research team that aims at understanding new mechanistic insights of in patients diagnosed with conditions related to pancreatic and liver cancer development. The work comprises monitoring of immunological, microbiome dynamics using clinical speciments, including the latest 3-D microfluidic models to understand the impact of microbiota in cancer including immunotherapy. Disease-specific markers will be investigated to develop diagnostic methods and individualized therapeutic strategies to improve human health.

The post doctoral fellows to be recruited to the project will be part of a multidisciplinary team and are expected to take active part in collaborative efforts, in line with the overall aims of this project. The studies will require methodological skills - from handling of human biopsy/biofluid to cell sorting, and/or molecular biology assays related to metagenomics sequencing analysis. The project is suitable for highly motivated researchers in molecular life sciences, especially those who have already knowledge of NGS bioinformatics workflow and resources.
