The rheumatology research lab at the center for molecular Medicine (CMM), Karolinska Institutet, does research front translational research based on close collaboration between the clinic and by holding researchers of various background and expertise. At the rheumatology division, the Malmström research group is primarily focused on adaptive immunity. We are now looking for two dedicated and curious scientists to join our group. We are proud of our collaborative spirit and offer plenty of opportunities for new ideas and approaches. Our goal is to understand, track and ultimately interfere with antigen- or disease-specific immune responses in rheumatic disease.
One project will focus on cytokine biology and the candidate will drive a new project primarily working in the context of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and patient derived samples from peripheral blood and affected kidneys. The project may lead to the identification of new drug candidates.
The second project will focus on the autoreactive T cell repertoire in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and drive our efforts in dissecting which autoantigens that are most central and how the TCR repertoire differs between individuals and how it changes over time. Such knowledge will lay the foundation for efforts to prevent RA disease development. In both projects, you will be expected to rigorously report results, draft manuscripts, participate in group meetings and contribute to student supervision.
Both candidates must hold a PhD in immunology, rheumatology or equivalent. Moreover, fluency in english is a requirement. The first project will require expertise in cell culture of primary cells and multiparameter flow cytometry. We also ask for previous experience in spatial biology of tissue, at least three color immunoflourescence and a documented interest in adaptive immunity. The candidate should also be interested in autoimmune disease and willing to contribute to increase the understanding of disease mechanisms in a research setting involving people of varying background and expertise.
The second project will require expertise in multiparameter flow cytometry. Previous experience with peptide-MHC tetramers is a bonus. Previous experience with single cell RNA sequencing is requested including some degree of bioinformatics experience for downstream analysis. The candidate should also be interested in autoimmune disease and willing to contribute to increase the understanding of disease mechanisms in a research setting involving people of varying background and expertise
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
