The Department of Biosciences and Nutrition performs research and education in several areas of medical science including bioorganic chemistry, molecular endocrinology, cancer biology, functional genomics, systems biology, epigenetics, structural biochemistry, cellular virology, and nutrition. It offers an excellent international research and working environment, including around 250 scientists, students, administrative and technical personnel. Your mission

We are looking for a Postdoc to Rune Toftgård´s research group.The group studies the genetic and molecular mechanisms of Hedgehog signalling and the importance of this signalling pathway in cancer development with a particular interest in strategies for therapeutic intervention. https://ki.se/en/bionut/signalling-and-cellular-heterogeneity-in-cancer-marco-gerling-leander-blaas-rune-toftgard

The successful applicant will perform studies on pharmacological modulation of Hedgehog signalling at the level of the GLI transcription factors aiming at the characterization of the molecular target for the small molecule inhibitor GANT61 previously described by our laboratory.

This position is a temporary employment for 6 months.

Qualifications

We are looking for goal-oriented candidates with demonstrated experience in cell- and molecular biology and biochemistry.  
The candidate should be able to interact closely with the supervisor but at the same time be able to independently progress the project. Strong communication skills and English proficiency, both written and spoken, are required. Background knowledge about the Hedgehog signalling pathway and experience with the Cellular Thermal Shift Assay (CETSA) is an advantage.  Emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
