Department
The research conducted at the Research Division of Genome Biology (located at SciLifeLab and as part of the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics) explores various aspects of genome metabolism, and how their perturbation can lead to disease. Besides our basic research activities, we also focus on phenotypic screens aiming at finding genes or chemicals that can be of help in fighting against age-related diseases currently lacking a cure.

We are currently looking for an ambitious, highly motivated project leader with a solid background in cell, molecular biology, biochemistry and high-throughput screening, to join the research group of Prof. Oscar Fernandez-Capetillo.

The candidate must be proficient in standard techniques including:

  • Cell culture models such as mouse embryonic stem cells and cancer cells
  • Molecular biology, including western blotting, CRISPR/Cas9, cloning, transfection of shRNA and other vectors, RNA/DNA extraction, DNA fiber analysis, PCR and quantitative real-time PCR techniques
  • Cell viability, proliferation and apoptosis assays
  • Immunofluorescence staining and immunoprecipitation techniques
  • Fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS)

In addition, the candidate should have skills in various advanced microscopy methods including high-throughput imaging and live cell imaging. Experience of high-throughput techniques and imaging data analysis is required.

Preferable, the candidate has experience as project leader. As project leader, it is important to have the ability to organize, plan and document experimental bench-work at the highest level and the capacity to stay on top of the relevant research field.
