The Department of Laboratory Medicine consists of seven departments within which both research and teaching are conducted. The department is involved in advanced research in both basic and applied research. All departments work in close contact with clinics at Karolinska University Hospital. The department's educational activities contribute to most programs and courses within KI's total educational offerings.
The Division of Biomolecular and Cellular Medicine (BCM) focuses on the use of modified biomolecules, cells and cell products as novel therapeutic agents and the identification and study of suitable biomolecular and cellular targets for therapy and diagnosis.
Currently, we are looking for a motivated and research-minded individual to join our research group to contribute to the development of modified extracellular vesicles for targeted cancer therapy.
The Oscar Wiklander research group has expertise in extracellular vesicles (EVs) as diagnostic and therapeutic tools. EVs are small membrane vesicles secreted by all cells and found in body fluids, making them attractive candidates both as drug carriers and biomarkers. We apply synthetic biology engineering strategies to construct and optimize antibody-binding EVs (Fc-EVs) and to isolate and analyze disease-associated EVs from blood and other body fluids.
We are looking for an ambitious research assistant with biotechnological expertise to develop the next generation of Fc-EVs. The work includes the design and optimization of bioengineered vesicles with enhanced antibody-binding capacity. The position may also involve the development of methods for isolating extracellular vesicles from bodily fluids, as well as analytical methods to identify the molecular signatures of the diseases they carry.
The ideal candidate should be a motivated and team-oriented individual with good English skills, knowledge in the field of extracellular vesicles, and biotechnological expertise. The research will involve laboratory work including cell culture, cloning, flow cytometry, and various techniques in molecular biology.
The candidate must:
