Duties

The appointee will, under Prof Sullivan’s direction, manage multiple projects whose purpose is to rapidly gain insight into the causes of schizophrenia and thereby advance treatment and prevention efforts. The three main parts are: (a) to initiate and complete the next phase of the Sweden Schizophrenia Study (a NIH- and Stanley Center/Broad Institute-funded effort to accrue 10K cases and 10K controls, and which will be a key part of the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium); (b) to manage participation in the SUN project (a VR-funded European collaboration on the neuroscience of schizophrenia); and (c) to further collaborations with Swedish and other Nordic researchers on the genomics of schizophrenia.

Job tasks will entail: (a) participation in personnel decisions, (b) obtaining and maintaining Ethical approvals, (c) participation in scientific strategy and prioritization, (d) direct responsibility for supervision of study personnel, (e) financial management, and (f) responsibility for meeting all project milestones.

Entry requirements

The successful application should have a PhD in Psychiatric Genetics or Human Genetics (a focus on complex traits is highly preferred), and post-doctoral training specifically in schizophrenia genomics.

Applicants should have: at least one year experience in a job that required considerable project management; extensive familiarity with current schizophrenia genomics (including publication history, knowledge of the field, experience with groups leading the effort); knowledge of all phases of genomic studies (ascertainment, phenotyping, DNA biobanking, genomic assays, quality control, and analysis); experience in the use of Swedish national records for schizophrenia research; experience with the use of induced pluripotent stem cell in schizophrenia (from patient sampling to transformation to differentiation and evaluation); and professional experience with modern project management, and demonstrated ability to successfully lead team efforts. As such, applicants should be detail-oriented, exceptionally responsible, highly focused, collegial, and demonstrated capacity to work in a team-science context.

Application process
