The Rydén and Mejhert lab aims to understand how alterations in human white adipocyte function is related to cardiometabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, and coronary sclerosis. Our group consists of 15-20 members (team leaders, senior researchers, postdoctoral fellows, PhD/master students, and technical staff) and has all the necessary infrastructure to conduct translational research including a fully equipped preclinical laboratory at NEO and a clinical research unit at the Karolinska University Hospital, Huddinge.

Your mission

We are recruiting a research assistant to work on projects related to immunometabolic disturbances in white adipose tissue. Work tasks include handling of clinical samples, culture of fat cells, experiments with standard molecular biology techniques and handling of mouse models. The position is for six months but may be extended with an additional six months and it is an excellent opportunity for a junior scientist who wants to gain more experience in modern translational research.

Your profile

A person is eligible to be appointed research assistant if they have been awarded a master’s degree or have achieved a corresponding scientific competence. It is a merit if the applicant has a background within the fields of endocrinology, adipocyte biology and/or lipid metabolism. As we conduct translational research, clinical experience is also a merit. Former experience of international scientific internships is also valuable. Good knowledge in English, written and spoken, is a requirement.
