Your mission

We are looking for a motivated and dedicated laboratory engineer to help support and coordinate precision medicine research activities.  The applicant is expected to work independently in the laboratory with supporting research projects on phenotypic profiling functional and drug testing. The mission also includes coordination of samples and analyses, between the hospital and the technology platforms at SciLifeLab. In addition, general laboratory responsibilities such as organization, ordering, handling deliveries, safety and maintenance of primary cell line models for functional profiling are included. The applicant will also be expected to regularly present and communicate the scientific results achieved both in written and oral format. Temporary position for 12 months with possibility of extension. The employment may come to reside at Radiumhemmets forskningsfonder. 

Your profile

A successful candidate should be ambitious and motivated. You may hold a university degree up to a PhD degree in a relevant field such as pharmaceutical, medical or biological science.
The experience needs to be wet lab-focused work in academia or pharmaceutical industry or equivalent. Hands-on experience with cell culture is required and knowledge of -omics profiling, high-throughput drug testing, flow cytometry, and high-throughput fluorescence imaging is highly valued. Experience in molecular biology techniques is also valued.

The laboratory work includes molecular biology technologies, cell culture work - specifically the maintenance of patient-derived primary cell cultures, but also cell lines, and the preparation of DNA/RNA/protein samples from tissue, cells, and blood for next-generation sequencing, transcriptomics and proteomic analyses. We will work together with a number of other SciLifeLab platforms, including high-throughput screening and drug profiling. The applicant will also be expected to perform the basic data analysis and enter the data to research databases, regularly present and communicate the scientific results both in written and oral format, as well as help in teaching of common laboratory techniques to group members. The responsibilities include sample coordination and general organizational tasks, ordering and handling deliveries.

The candidate should be independent and motivated with a documented ability to carry out experimental research projects and coordination. The applicant is fluent in English and proficiency in written/spoken Swedish is valued. Expertise on laboratory safety regulations at KI, ordering and procurement procedures, and accounting is highly valued.

Experience and knowledge from projects related to precision cancer medicine is a great merit.  The candidate should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enjoy working in a collaborative setting, and be very self-driven. The individual should also be organized, responsible, demonstrate excellent research lab practices and set a high standard for all people in the group. Ability to demonstrate a capability to work in a team-science oriented way will be highly valued.
