Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Center for Infectious Medicine (http://www.ki.se/cim) is a research division within the Department of Medicine Huddinge with a focus on translational studies of the human immune system and infection immunity in humans. CIM is located within the Karolinska Institutet’s newly established research facilities, ANA Futura.

Your mission

The candidate will work in the research groups headed by Assist. Prof. Marcus Buggert and by Prof. Johan Sandberg. The research performed by these groups focuses on human immunology and the immunopathogenesis of viral diseases, with a current strong focus on COVID-19 related research. We are seeking a highly motivated and well-organized person with a PhD to serve as a laboratory manager facilitating the ongoing research and collaboration between these groups.

The duties are multifaceted and entail both administrative tasks and research-related activities. The administrative part of the work will involve duties related to ordering, preparing documentation for different types of applications, permits and registers, organizing databases and data sets, and introduction of new members in the group. The research-related duties include interaction with clinical collaborators, collection and processing of lymphocytes from various types of human samples, cell culture techniques, flow cytometry, ELISA, ELISPOT, and other cell- and molecular biology work.

Your profile

The candidate must hold a PhD degree in the field of biomedicine – preferably in immunology. We are looking for a person with excellent organizational skills, who likes to work in a dynamic environment with diverse tasks. The applicant should have practical experience in cell processing, culture of primary cells and standard immunology techniques, including good skill sets in flow cytometry. Good cooperation, independence, flexibility, communication and computer skills are required. Fluency in English is necessary. Postdoctoral research experience with pre-clinical human immunology research will be of merit.
