The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics conducts research in epidemiology and biostatistics across a broad range of areas within biomedical science. The department is among the largest of its type in Europe and has especially strong research profiles in psychiatric, cancer, reproductive, pediatric, pharmaco, genetic, and geriatric epidemiology, eating disorders, precision medicine, and biostatistics.
Part of the success of our department is due to our collaborative spirit where one factor is that researchers at the Department share and co-finance common resources (e.g., IT and an applied biostatistics group). The department is situated at campus Solna. Further information can be found at http://ki.se/en/meb
One of the major focuses of the research group is on epidemiology and etiology of gastrointestinal cancers. The group has several finished and ongoing epidemiological studies in which questionnaire data and biosamples were/are collected. The group has also a molecular epidemiology laboratory with a focus on microbiome and health, as well as tumor mutation profiling.
The person who will take a combined position as laboratory manager and researcher (50% each) will be mainly involved in daily management of the above-mentioned molecular epidemiology laboratory. In addition, the person is also expected to develop a line of research on microbiome and health, and/or tumor mutation in relation to exposure and survival.
A person is eligible to be appointed this joint position of Laboratory manager and Researcher, if he or she has been awarded a Degree of Doctor. In addition, he/she should have documented experiences of laboratory management, as well as documented research experiences after publicly defending his or her doctoral thesis.
