2 Postdoctoral Researchers in Aging Epidemiology - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

2 postdoctoral positions are available within the Aging research group at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm. The group is involved in a wide variety of research projects, including molecular and genetic epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, as well as twin and family studies.

Your mission

The two successful applicants will conduct studies in different areas; one project is focused on pharmacoepidemiology and the other project in genetic epidemiology. Using different epidemiological methods such as causal inference, investigations on drug repurposing for age-related diseases will be conducted. Applications on large-scale genetic data such as Mendelian Randomizations and register-based analyses using the Swedish Prescribed Drug Register will be conducted. For the genetic project, investigations on schizophrenia and aging will be done primarily using polygenic risk score analyses related to biological and cognitive aging, including both cross-sectional and longitudinal analyses. Population-based cohorts from the Swedish Twin Register, the Genomic Aggregation Project in Sweden, the UK biobank, and other National Patient Registries will be used in the analyses. Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

Qualifications

• A doctoral degree related to epidemiology, pharmacology, genetics or aging.
• A formal education in epidemiology, pharmacology, public health or a closely related field.
• A strong research background in aging, genetics, pharmacology, epidemiology or related.
• Experience with methods in epidemiological research.
• Experience with registry-based data and/or genetic data.
• Excellent data management skills in R, SAS and/or STATA. Unix programming skills are meriting.
• Excellent communication and writing skills in English.
