Department
At the Department of Public Health Sciences we conduct research, teaching and applied work based on public health science and epidemiology. The research is aimed at analysing health determinants on the population level, and developing and evaluating preventative structural and individualised measures, including legislation and guidelines. The field also includes health economics, health systems research and implementation research. Our activities have a strongly international flavour, and the Department's researchers are scientific advisers to authorities and other decision-makers on the regional, national and international level. The Department is divided into research groups operating within the fields of global health, public health epidemiology and social medicine with a total of 150 employees. In addition, we have around 80 PhD students. This position is located in the Social Medicine, Infectious Diseases and Migration research group led by Professor Knut Lönnroth.
Duties
The primary duty is to produce a report based on a literature review of income security in times of sickness with special focus on low- and middle-income countries. In addition, the work involves contributing to a review of the history of social protection policy development in selected European countries, including an analysis of possible lessons learned for low- and middle-income countries currently building stronger social protection schemes. This work will contribute to the policy translation of research currently carried out within the IMPACT-TB project (Implementing proven community-based active tuberculosis case finding interventions in Vietnam and Nepal). The work is also part of the work plan developed within the SPARKS (Social Protection Action Research Knowledge Sharing) network. IMPACT-TB is an EU funded consortium project. SPARKS is a global research network created to facilitate action-oriented research on the public health impact of social interventions. You will also contribute to other research activities under IMPACT-TB, help manage the SPARKS secretariat and provide some administrative support to the research group.
