The Department is organized in 10 divisions: Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Pediatric Endocrinology, Pediatric Surgery, Neuropediatrics, Pediatric Oncology, Neonatology, Reproductive Endocrinology, Neuropsychiatry (KIND), Reproductive and Perinatal Health. The divisions have separate scientific profiles and vary in size and have several research groups, dealing with both basic and clinical science.

Research group
The Petter Brodin research group located at Science for Life Laboratory in Stockholm and affiliated with the unit of clinical pediatrics, KBH, Karolinska Institutet, develops experimental and computational research methods for systems-level analyses of human immune cells. The aim of the group is to understand the regulation and development of human immune systems in general, and the immune system of children in particular.

The duties of the senior developer
The Brodin lab and SciLifeLab national Mass cytometry facility generates large datasets of various kinds such as mRNA seq, plasma protein profiling, ATAC-seq, metagenomic data and mass cytometry data. All these require state of the art methods for data storage and analyses. The full stack developer is responsible for maintaining and developing the entire data infrastructure of the group. The duties require good communication skills and team work, especially working with computational and non-computational experts alike and understanding their data infrastructure needs. The developer will also be responsible for the development of novel analyses and data processing tools, in particular tools based on Machine and deep learning requiring knowledge of neural network design and testing as well as more standard supervised and unsupervised learning methods.

Skills and personal qualities
It is essential that the successful candidate is an expert in cloud-based architecture especially serverless computing and must be able to collect and understand user requirements, solution presenting, UI/UX design. Also, frontend development skills based on React, redux, and similar as well as backend development skills based on Django and Amazon AWS serverless framework are important. Database design by SQL and NoSQL and database management. Python, Javascript, and R are essential language skills.

  • Other documented experience relevant to the subject and planned project

The qualifications of the applicants will be evaluated on an overall basis.
