Division
The Centre for Psychiatry Research (CPF) conducts basic and clinical research in mental health and in neuropsychiatric disorders like psychosis, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, alcohol/drug abuse, suicide, behavioral and mental disorders in neurodegenerative diseases as well as treatment of these diseases with medications and different forms of psychotherapies.

Subject Area
To understand self-organization and dynamic self-regulation of complex biochemical networks that constitute the neuroendocrine system and their impairment in common neuropsychiatric diseases, such as substance use disorders, analytical and integrative approaches are needed. Our focus lies on the development and use of quantitative time-resolved spectroscopic techniques with single-molecule sensitivity to characterize the kinetics of complex cellular and molecular processes underlying the pathology of common neuropsychiatric diseases and on the use of mathematical modeling and approaches from dynamical systems theory to understand how qualitative changes in neuroendocrine signaling dynamics occur via deterministic biochemical mechanisms.

Duties
The successful applicant should conduct high quality and independent research within the Subject Area and is expected to work as research group leader, participate in teaching and pedagogical development, supervise PhD students and Postdoctoral Fellows, and establish research and education collaborations with other Higher Education Institutions. He/she should also be able to be a supportive leader and motivated to build a vibrant international and multidisciplinary research group.

Entry requirements
The applicant should have a PhD degree and research experience in methods and subject area that is comparable to the role of an Associate Professor (Docent). The applicant should have a good track record of publications in internationally leading journals in this Subject Area in the recent years, The applicant should have obtained, preferably as the principal applicant, good external financing in recent years, and must have the capability to obtain additional financing.

Bases of assessment
Applicants will be assessed on their scientific expertise and competence in the Subject Area. Experience with both, experimental and theoretical work is an important criterion. Experience as a  research group leader is a merit.

Application process
An application must contain the following documents in English: Curriculum vitae, qualifications and description of planned research, presented in accordance with Karolinska Institutet’s qualifications portfolio (http://ki.se/qualificationsportfolio).
